The Lokal Link Spotlight: Legacy Parenting Center

One Conversation Sparked Five New Ways to Help Local Families

One of the things we love most about The Lokal Link is seeing what happens after the introductions are over.

When Kyia Robison from Legacy Parenting Center joined us as our June Spotlight business, she shared the incredible work Legacy is doing to support parents and young families throughout our community. Before lunch was over, five businesses had already volunteered to become diaper drop-off locations.

That's exactly why we created The Spotlight. It gives organizations doing meaningful work the opportunity to connect with local businesses that genuinely want to help.

Now Kyia and the Legacy team are inviting our community to take the next step.

Lokal Link Spotlight: Legacy Parenting Center

Every Baby Deserves a Clean, Dry Start

This September, Legacy Parenting Center is leading National Diaper Need Awareness Week (September 14–20), a community-wide campaign focused on raising awareness about an often-overlooked challenge affecting families right here in Oklahoma.

According to Legacy, 1 in 2 babies now experience diaper need, meaning families don't have enough diapers to keep their children clean, dry, and healthy. For many parents, diapers aren't simply another household expense—they're a necessity that can determine whether a child can attend daycare or whether a parent can go to work.

Diapers aren't covered by government assistance programs, and with babies needing up to 12 diapers each day, the cost adds up quickly.

A Community That Steps Up

Legacy Parenting Center doesn't simply hand out diapers.

They build relationships with parents through education, mentoring, and support programs that strengthen families for generations.

Families receive diapers through Legacy's parent education appointments and emergency assistance program, helping meet immediate needs while investing in long-term success.

This year alone, Legacy has already distributed more than 282,000 diapers to families in our community.

That's an incredible number.

But the need continues to grow.

They're Looking for 100 Community Partners

This year's goal isn't simply collecting diapers.

Legacy is looking for 100 businesses, churches, schools, organizations, and community groups willing to become partners by hosting diaper drives throughout September.

Hosting a drive is simple.

Choose a location, set your dates, invite your customers, employees, members, or friends to participate, and Legacy provides resources to help you spread the word. When your drive is finished, they'll even help coordinate pickup or delivery.

Whether your team collects 100 diapers or 10,000, every donation helps local families.

More Than a Donation

One thing that stood out during Kyia's Spotlight presentation was how easy it is for businesses to make a real impact.

You don't have to start a nonprofit.

You don't have to organize a huge fundraiser.

Sometimes the greatest difference begins with placing a collection box in your lobby and inviting your customers to participate.

Five businesses made that decision after one Lokal Lunch.

Imagine what could happen if 100 businesses joined together.
