A place where animals and people find second chances.
At our February 26 Lokal Lunch, we had the privilege of hearing from Terry Anna Wood-Smith, founder of Singing Grace Ranch, a nonprofit rescue ranch dedicated to healing, both for animals and the people who care for them.

Located in Meeker, Oklahoma, Singing Grace Ranch is more than a rescue. It’s a place where compassion meets purpose, and where animals once overlooked or abandoned become powerful partners in helping others grow, heal, and rebuild confidence.
A Ranch Built on Grace
Singing Grace Ranch began with a simple but meaningful calling: to create a safe place where both animals and people can heal.
What started with rescuing a few animals who had nowhere else to go has grown into a thriving ranch filled with horses, donkeys, goats, pigs, chickens, and more, each with their own story of resilience and restoration.
But the ranch doesn’t just change the lives of animals.
Through therapeutic horse riding, animal interaction programs, and work with at-risk youth, Singing Grace Ranch has become a place where people find peace, confidence, and hope.
For many visitors, the ranch becomes a reminder that healing doesn't have to be rushed. Sometimes the most meaningful progress happens slowly, through trust, patience, and compassion.
The Heart Behind the Work

Rescue work isn’t easy.
Terry shared that one of the biggest challenges has been carrying the emotional weight that comes with animal rescue, the difficult stories, the animals who arrive frightened or broken, and the constant balance of time, finances, and heart required to keep the work going.
But the wins are powerful.
Moments like:
a frightened horse learning to trust again
a child with special needs gaining confidence in the saddle
an at-risk youth finding calm through connection with an animal
These moments are reminders that the work matters.
And they reinforce one important lesson Terry has learned along the way:
Progress doesn’t have to be fast to be meaningful. Slow, steady, and compassionate wins every time.
Animals as Teachers
One of the most beautiful things about Singing Grace Ranch is watching rescued animals transform into teachers and healers themselves.
Animals that once needed rescue now help others:
build confidence
experience calm and emotional regulation
reconnect with joy
develop trust and patience
For children, teens, and adults alike, these experiences can be life-changing.
There is something powerful about standing next to a 1,000-pound horse and realizing that trust, connection, and patience work both ways.
How the Community Can Support
Like many nonprofits, Singing Grace Ranch thrives through the support of the community around it.
There are several ways to get involved:
Volunteer at the ranch
Share their story with others
Donate to support animal care and programming
Offer encouragement and prayer
Attend upcoming events
One of the most exciting ways to support the ranch is coming up soon.

Join Them for the Market of Many Things
March 28 Fundraiser Event
Singing Grace Ranch is hosting a special fundraiser called The Market of Many Things on March 28, and the entire community is invited.
This event helps raise funds to support the rescue animals and the therapeutic programs offered at the ranch.
It’s also a chance to experience the heart of the ranch firsthand while supporting a mission that is changing lives, both animal and human.
If you’re looking for a meaningful way to support a local nonprofit doing incredible work, mark your calendar for this event.
